What About A New Friend As A Present?
There are many things that people can bestow upon their loved ones as gifts. Some people chose to gift jewelry. Some people might gift articles of clothing, give money, or pay for all-expense paid vacations. But there is one gift that a person can bestow that will last far longer than any of these and that can be the gift that keeps on giving. That gift is a pet, specifically a cat or a dog.
Why would you want to give someone a cat or a dog as a gift? There can be a variety of reasons. First, many people love receiving these furry friends as gifts. Children especially will squeal with delight at the sight of a new kitty or puppy. Children are full of love, and they want something that they can nurture, and love without having to compete for their parent’s affections. Children want to feel responsible and needed. When they receive their little kitty or puppy, it warms their heart. They love the soft feel of the animal, and they will often rub their cheeks against the animal’s warm body.
Because the animal will need lots of care, the child will be able to put lots of energy into caring for it, and protecting it. As the child grows, the animal will grow with it. The child will learn how to respect animal life, and that respect will deepen their love and respect of humanity, and the world at large. This will happen because raising an animal will teach children responsibility, and will put selfish tendencies in check. A child has to learn to be patient, and giving when they are raising a pet. It’s great preparation for them to learn to raise and to deal with children.
Furthermore, their pet will love them unconditionally, especially if the pet is a dog. All children need a friend who will love them unconditionally, and their furry friend fits the bill just fine.
Pets as gifts isn’t just a concept for children however. Animals make lovely gifts for adults as well. Again, animals are a form of life that need caring a love. Many single adults feel lonely, and their furry friends offer them love, laughter, and hope. Their cat or dog offers them a reason for living, as well as having a positive outlook on life. It is said that adults that are pet owners tend to live longer, happier lives.
Indeed, many adults feel like they’d rather have the companionship of animals over humans, because animals are more simplistic and have more common sense than humans! Indeed, many adults can look back on years and eras of their lives, and remember their furry friend during certain times of their lives. They come to define themselves as pet parents. They may even take “family pictures” with their pets. Some people vacation with their pets, and some people take it as an insult of they can’t dine out, or shop with their pets.
Animals are being increasingly used for the disabled. Everyone knows about Seeing Eye dogs. But there are many other disabled people who keep pets. They may keep horses, dogs, cats, or other animals, because caring for the animals keep their minds busy, and optimistic. By the same turn, a lot of these animals can be trained to care for their human owners. Many animals have saved the lives of people who might have slept through fires, suffered seizures or heart attacks, or even had cancer! It has been said that cats and dogs can sense and smell illness in people through human skin and breath.
So, if you are searching for a gift that is priceless, a furry friend might be just what you are looking for.
