Your pet has to be confined in a kennel or animal carrier during the flight. It should be easy enough to get one from a nearby pet store. There’s a wide variety to choose from, most come with padded walls and different sizes to accommodate animals of any size. Before you purchase one, make sure the kennel you chose would pass airline standards. Don’t be afraid to ask the personnel if you don’t know which one to purchase.

Tranquilizing your pet is no longer an issue. Your pet would probably be sleeping during the whole flight anyway. What you can do is to train your pet to stay in the crate during the flight. Once you’ve done that then you’re good to go! So have a happy trip with your pet!
