The Bonnet Cleaning
Bonnet Cleaning commonly refers to employing a 175rpm Floor machine with a cotton pad or brush. The Cotton Bonnet that is often used with these is actually where Bonnet Cleaning gets it’s name. There have been a couple of large national franchise of carpet cleaners that have based their system on Bonnet cleaning with a 175 rpm buffer.
How the Cimex Floor Cleaning Works
The Cimex is a unique twist on the rotating head cleaner. It has three small heads which counter rotate to the direction of the main disk. At first glance It appears to be a regular 175 rpm floor buffer but the action on the carpet is not the same. The Cimex is very popular for encaping commercial carpet
Ocsillating Pad (OP)
The Op machine looks nearly the same as the 175 rpm floor machine but has a totally different action. The base of the unit vibrates and rapidly rotates in little small circles and rotates in a large circle also. It is very deceptive as to how much work it is doing. It works very well on some types of carpeting like Berbers and commercial carpet.
What is a Wick Back?
Wick backs are a problem with most carpets and rugs, even more so with carpets that are glued down. Particularly with Hwe you can clean a carpet and the spot will appear be gone. As the carpet dries the stain may return. What is happening is the moisture in the carpet is wicking up the fiber and bringing the stain back up the carpet fiber and onto the top of the carpet. Bonnet Cleaning, Encapsulating, and OP methods have very few wickback problems.
Pet Problems with Carpet and Rugs
Often with small Pet Urine issues you can saturate the area with approximately the same amount of Urine cleaner, let soak for 20 to thirty minutes and then extract. If a section of carpet has been badly heavily used by a pet multiple times the pad and sub floor probably will be contaminated. The solution for this in most cases you need to pull up the carpet, replace the carpet pad, paint over the subfloor using a special sealer. Often it will be best to to replace the carpet.
Encapsulated Cleaning There are new cleaning products available that are known as Encapsulating. How these these cleaning agents work is they break the dirt’s bond with the rug fibers and dry to a flake. This flake will separate from the carpet with normal vacuuming. These chemicals were engineered for the Very Low Moisture carpet cleaners but typically work nicely with Hot Water Extracting also.
What are the Benefits of Vacuuming More Often.
Carpeting is a good air filter for your home. Dust and dirt will normally be caught in the carpet fibers. Daily vacuuming will remove a lot of this dirt. Some of this dust will drop through the carpet to the carpet backing and not come back up. Have you ever observed that you do not see the dust bunnies floating around on a carpeted floor but you will see them after a day or two when you have hard surface floors. The carpet absorbs airborne dirt and dust and if you do not vacuum on a regular basis it will end up in the carpet.
What is most essential factor in cleaning your Upholstery?
The five most important stages to cleaning a carpet. Chemical Solution, dwell time, agitation, heat, the cleaning technician. When the equipment is operating properly and the technician is educated on how to operate his equipment then the most critical element in getting your carpeting thoroughly clean is the Technician.
20% of Dirt is Sticky
Several reports have shown that close to 20% of the dirt in most carpets is sticky and will attach to the actual carpet fibers making it look dirty. The additional 80% is dry and will easily be removed by vacuuming in the event that it has not been trampled in to the carpet. In the event that the dry dirt has dropped to the bottom of the carpet it is not likely you will not get it out of the carpeting. You are unable to get adequate airflow to get dirt from the base of the carpet back up through the top fiber layer. What carpet cleaners are attempting to clean is the 20% of the sticky dirt that sticks to the fibers and changes the color of the carpet.
