Puppy Behavior Problems

Puppy activity such as chasing cars can be a problem for the owner.

In born instincts may appear in the behavior of a puppy when it chases cats. Whether cars, people or other animals, you dog will be tempted give chase. This can be problematic for the dog owner and have a tragic outcome for the dog. While you may not be able to take the instinct out of the dog, there are thing you can do to keep your pet safer. Stopping the chase by a puppy prior to it beginning could be your best method to alter its behavior. Problems With Puppy’s Jumping Up

A puppy will jump up to signal a greeting to its mother. Greeting people may also entail jumping up into their laps or otherwise as the puppy changes and alters its behavior. A dog might also jump to establish dominance over another animal. Jumping can be troublesome and dangerous behavior. The many techniques available to address this behavior will vary in success from dog to dog. Some dogs may have the wrong and undesirable behavior triggered when a person pushes the dog, grabs the paws or lifts a knee when attempting to change the dog. In general, to acknowledge your dog’s behavior in any way is seen by the animal as a reward so you may be reinforcing the unwanted behavior without knowing it. Turning your back on the dog and ignoring him is the best approach. Be careful not to speak, touch or make eye contact with the dog. Continue your current activity when the puppy is seeking your attention by jumping. You may give him a goody after he settles down and sits still. Your dog will begin to understand after a bit of time passes.

Dog Biting Can Be A Serious Problem

To learn their place in their pact and environment, puppies tend to nip and bite a bit in order to explore. It is important to teach the puppy right away that you will not tolerate any biting or mouthing.

Many people believe that biting is dependent on the breed of dog you are dealing with but this isn’t necessarily true. If your dog has been bred correctly and then trained in the right way, the tendency of an issue with biting with your dog will decrease. A Potential Problem Behavior is Aggression

Biting, lunging, showing teeth, snarling, and growling are some of the behaviors that exhibit dogs problem behavior. History or type of dog  does not indicate which animal has the likelihood of attacking, as any dog can exhibit this bad behavior. Dogs who have experienced abusive treatment, or who come from breeds that are historically aggressive may be more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior towards other dogs or people. Any dog can become aggressive in a particular circumstance but it is a larger problem is the dog behaves aggressively in general. A health issue could be the cause of aggression so discussing the issue with your vet is important. A good animal trainer could be the right answer for the bad behavior that your dog exhibits. If you have an aggressive dog, your main concern should be keeping yourself and others safe.
