Painting A Personality Of An Animal

This female graphic artist has little faces looking at her while she works in her home office. Most of the time spent at home is used up for work that just seems to lack color. Four canines and four felines watched her from outside her office.

The faces encouraged her to pursue a different career path. She was headed for Texas when she decided to put the images of her animals on canvas. Using colors that fit the animal’s personality, she creates the animal’s portrait.

She makes it her goal to capture the essence of the animal when she paints. It’s essential that I understand the personality of the animal so I can recreate it on canvas. The blue dog is a standout in her paintings. People view these blue paintings as fanciful, but the artist views it as haunting. The paintings may look amusing, but there is actually a spiritual connotation to each one. The dog stares at us and asks us the same questions humankind has been asking since our existence.

She wants her art to reflect an animal’s life force. She picks vibrant colors, unusual patterns to mirror how they act. All her animals are rescued, adopted from a shelter or found on the street. Her newest dog, kept leaving a neighbor’s house and wandering to someone else’s house and she finally adopted the dog.

She started promoting her pet portrait paintings by leaving fliers inside local veterianarian offices. Give me a picture of the animal and also her personality description, she tells her clients. The colors she uses for the portrait depends on her knowledge of the animal’s personality.
