After one of my dogs was sick all over the house today, my husband mentioned that he was beginning to suspect it was the Canidae — he suspected that Canidae may have changed their formula, so I checked the Internet to see if anyone else was complaining and there are complaints all over the Internet!

Their coat is looking so much I wouldn’t feed my dogs anything else now. And the price and service from Amazon is unbeatable! I buy Newman’s Own adult dog food for my two Chihuahuas. I’ve always fed them natural, human-grade dog food, even though most brands can be a bit pricey.

My dog loved this food and he was a very picky eater. I felt I was giving him healthy food with no fillers. My dogs have very sensitive stomachs. What they may consider a simple change made them very sick. We tried pretty much every brand that you can buy in pet shops and always had problems with my dog scratching or having her ears get bright red. We found out the problem after one of the cases where she almost went into renal failure after eating her Milkbone treats. Canidae is not cheap either, but it is because of the quality ingredients. My sons Collie has been eating it for the past few months and now the fur is much shinier, the dog does not smell and it loves the food. She would often leave a good portion of it on the ground or in the bowl and rarely ate it in its entirety. With the Newman’s own it is night and day. I also loved the convenience of having it sent to the house monthly. Not having to shop and drag a big weighty item home was great.

Also, all the ingredients are apparently from the U.S.A, so no worries about melamine (the two recent melamine scares were from Chinese wheat gluten and Chinese milk powder). We’re on our 3rd bag now – my girl thrives on it, and likes it. We switched up from Nutro chicken and rice to Newman’s own and chip’s bowel movements are so much more dense and compact. Our vet says it’s a sign of good food. Finally, I decided that I needed to find something that didn’t have all sorts of fillers in it. So I decided to try Canidae. My dogs like it and I feel good about it feeding it to them. I foolishly purchased the HARMONY FARMS Healthy & Holistic Adult Dog Food, since it had more for the same price (why it had good reviews is beyond me).
