Learning How To Take Care Of Your Puppies Properly

Having a pet is a great responsibility. Learning how to take care of your puppies is very important. Because they are little they need more help getting around in the world than the adult animals do. Special problems can make the situation even harder for many. If an animal has been removed from its mother before it was physically ready, it will require much more work to help it grow.

Even in the wild baby animals are cared for by the mother for the first few weeks of their lives at a least. In some cases the mother cares for the young for up to a year before they move off on their own. After an animal is grown enough to survive, you will find that a young pup in particular finds itself in some mischievous situations that will annoy you and humor you at the same time.

A pup that has been weaned from its mom will require a bit of tender love and care from you as its surrogate. It takes a bit of time after you bring the new pup home for it to emotionally adjust to the loss of its parent. Once they have adjusted you will notice that they become bouncy and full of energy. It is a good idea to let them use up as much of this energy as possible during the day. Take them out in the yard on a leash or place them in an enclosed area.

Pups can be viewed in a way that is similar to a young child. They need plenty of attention and plenty of things to do to keep themselves busy. Also like children if a pup becomes bored they will find ways to occupy their time. Generally this will lead them into some situation that you will not appreciate. They tend to also take up the habit of chewing when they become bored. This should be dealt with as quickly as possible. Provide them with an alternate activity.

Pups also need to have the proper health care. Vaccinations are required in all states for rabies and Parvo. Both of these illnesses are almost always fatal to the dog and can be stopped by having the pup vaccinated on schedule.

The young dog must also be fed properly. They have different needs than an older dog. This is why manufacturers of dog food produce various types of food for varying ages of dogs. The ingredients that are required for a healthy and happy pup is proper care, proper nutrition and lots and lots of exercise.

People many times do not realize the amount of time that is required for a pup. Because of this, you need to consider how much extra time you will have.
