A large part of a pets time is spent either sleeping or finding ways to entertain itself while we’re off working or attending to more important human things. If we’ve spent the time and care on finding toys and treats our pets really enjoy and appreciate, being self-entertained isn’t a hard thing for pets to do. Granted, finding the best toys for dogs isn’t always the easiest thing to do, and finding a toy that a cat will be interested in consistently is a challenge in its own right. Not only does this encourage the pet to play with the toy, but it distracts them away from playing with things they shouldn’t, like expensive leather shoes and using the arm of the couch for a scratching post.

While no toy will hold an animal’s attention forever, those that dispense treats do a much better job of it than those that don’t. The pet gets rewarded for playing with that toy automatically. Once the pet knows the toy will dispense treats, it’ll play with it to try to get more. A pet with a great toy is a happy pet. Those that play with a toy that dispenses treats are even happier.
