Care for Cowboy Boots
Since cowboy boots are a big investment whether they cost $80.00 or $2000.00, the right care is the best way to protect your investment. It is not really all that hard to care for cowboy boots but important.
You always want to wipe off any mud you may have on them immediately while the mud is fairly damp, and use a soft damp cloth to wipe off any dust that could be left on your boots. For boots that may be very dry, shoe cream or leather conditioner can be used and is preferred over saddle soap which could hurt the finish on the boot.
There are all sorts of different kinds of cowboy or cowgirl boots as in cowhide cowboy boots are very strong maybe the toughest of all the cowboy or cowgirl boots. Cowhide can be cleaned by brushing off any loose dirt & dust and then use approved leather conditioner to clean. You may want to use a matching shoe color cream, brushing into the leather and then use a soft clean cloth to buff the boot.
Some prefer the suede cowboy boot that is still pretty tough, but also a softer boot. Clean these only with a nylon brush and a stain protector. You never want to be out in the mud with these boots.
Other type of leather you can purchase is the ostrich leather boots. These are equally soft to the touch like suede. But with these boots you want to use a reptile conditioner after you have brushed off the dust.
Snakeskin is a very touch boot that cleans very well. A great tip to cleaning snakeskin is to wipe against the scales. Then, use a grain of the scales to polish. For your alligator boots you want to use a soft cloth to brush away the dirt. After the dirt and dust are gone you will use a reptile conditioner to polish them up.
There is also lizard, and elephant boots if you like the more exotic cowboy boots. Just like the others, brush off dirt and then use leather conditioner on them.
Many different types of companies like Ariate, Charlie 1 Horse, Chippewar, Justin, and Lucchese, make these boots. If you want to get something different have fun with some of the more exotic boots.
