Barking Dog Training – Stop Your Dog From Nuisance Barking
Unabated barking, particularly at night is not something anyone wants to put up with. It`s a bigger problem if it`s our dog doing the barking. Living as we do in close proximity to each other it is an inconvenience to us and to our neighbours and can lead to big fall outs and accusations that our dog is out of control. However barking dog training is not difficult with the right equipment.
We do not want our dog to stop barking altogether, that would be like expecting a human being never to talk. Also there is no better burgler alarm than a barking dog.
What we as dog owners need to do is control the barking dog, training him when it’s appropriate to bark and then stop on our command. Like humans, dogs `speak` for many reasons and the majority of these are legitimate. Dogs bark because they are excited, to alert attention and to convey a message. Barks can be legitimate – alarm, playful, need and command all come into this category. Continuous barking is a behavioural problem.
It is possible with time and patience to train a dog to bark on command and as a by product to be quiet on command. If you do not have the time or patience to do this don’t give up hope because there are several devices which can offer a quick remedy.
1 Ultrasonic devices.
These emit an ultrasonic sound when the dog barks which humans can’t hear but which distracts the dog. There are several versions of these; collars, stand alone and hand held devices. Collar devices are as described, they automatically sound when the dog barks. You simply place the stand alone device in your home or garden. A bonus of this device is that it can be used to intetrupt your neighbour’s dogWith handheld ultrasonic devices you simply press the button when you want to deliver a correction. When you are out walking these can be useful if you are worried by barking dogs.
2 Spray Devices.
Devices like citronella bark collars use a spray to control the barking. They automatically spray citronella, which most dogs do not like, every time the dog barks thus providing negative reinforcement to the bark.
3 Electronic devices.
Nuisance barking has a rapid and reliable answer in the electronic bark collar, Many professional dog trainers swear by them. Electronic bark collars are considered by some to be cruel or inhumane. The modern electronic collar is very clever and not at all cruel as they might have been a few years ago. They give the dog a small electric shock whern he barks The first bark of the dog is met with the first warning which is a mild shock If the dog barks again within 30 seconds the shock is intensified slightly. Repetitive barking will take the collar to the 6th and final level. Safety measures built in to the collar prevent cruelty to the dog fo instance if the dog barks more than 15 times in 50 seconds then the collar shuts down for 3 minutes and resets itself.
So this is how to stop dog barking It is a straightforward exercise to stop dog barking Barking dog training with one of the three methods outlined above needs no expertise to use and is usually effective immediately.
