A particularly vicious parasitic infection is the mange which can be sarcoptic or demodectic in nature. While both are fatal if left untreated the former can jump to humans easily. Regardless, if your dog shows signs of itching, skin discoloration, rash formation or excessive skin blistering then get it checked immediately.

Some of the symptoms that may suggest some type of infection or disease include loss of appetite, stamina or body hair. Increase in aggression levels or decrease in alertness, restlessness and increased thirst, shaking of head, diarrhea and foul breath are just a few other symptoms. Even excessive running nose and plaque formation suggests something out of the norm. By keeping a watch for these symptoms you should be able to know when to show it to the veterinarian.
