A Consideration Of The Fell Ponies

England is where the Fell pony originated from and has a unique classic English appearance. The Fell pony is capable of running long distances without depleting its energy, and it is a great selection for riding.

The Fell pony is a very hardy animal that requires much less care than the average horse. When provided some sort of shelter, it will essentially live in any type of weather year round, thus eliminating the need for an enclosed barn in most climates.

Named one of the worlds most rare pony breeds, they are typically black in color, although some are grey, brown, or bay, and white markings are not uncommon. On some of their foreheads you can find an elegant looking white star.

For some reason, the foals of the Fell ponies seem to be at risk for a fatal syndrome at birth, the cause of which is still being researched. The Fell pony is rising in cost and becoming more and more uncommon due to this situation.

This pony has a magnificent mane and tail that make this pony an object of attention. Not only are horse enthusiasts stricken by their beauty, even non horse enthusiasts notice their beauty. They typically have a long full mane and tail that when carefully groomed is very pleasant to look at.

Fells are becoming more popular around the world as people discover their beauty and surefootedness. This is a larger pony with a rugged stamina, but it also has a great manner about it. The breed is popular not only with adults, but among children, to whom the Fell seems to instantly become attached and loyal.

These Fell ponies are indeed rare gems that are still being discovered. They are still carefully breeded and although considered one of the more expensive breeds, have such desirable qualities that they are well worth the investment.
